Undergraduate Scholarships
Legacy Undergraduate Scholarships
Undergraduate students who are pursuing a Baccalaureate Degree and attending a college or university as listed in the current Yearbook & Directory of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) may apply for a Phillips University Legacy Scholarship. Annual scholarships are intended to support and enrich the educational experience and leadership capabilities of future Christian leaders. Scholarship awards may be applied to tuition, books, room and board, lab fees, and similar educational expenses incurred within the college/university.
Volunteer Service Projects
Because service to others is an important aspect of Christian leadership, Legacy Scholars perform at least one Volunteer Service Project each year. These projects may involve experiences with local charitable agencies, churches, or college activities. Scholars have worked with young children, built homes with Habitat for Humanity, assisted in disaster relief, conducted Bible studies and participated in mission trips.
Leadership Development Conference
A highlight of the Legacy Scholars program is the annual Leadership Development Conference. Scholars, alumni, former Phillips faculty, lay leaders and notable Christian leaders enjoy networking and exchanging ideas about successful leadership experiences. Team building exercises, ropes courses, small group interactions, worship services, panel presentations and reports on volunteer service projects are just a few of the exciting activities included in the program.
Nurturing the Phillips Family
Phillips alumni who participate in the Legacy Scholars program feel a deep kinship with the scholars. From care packages to exchanging emails and sharing hugs, fellowship and friendships emerge each year as alumni mentor young scholars – once again expanding the legacy of the Phillips family.
Due to current budget constraints, first year applications will not be accepted for 2010-2011. We hope to be able to accept first year applications for 2011-2012.
