Undergraduate Scholarships

Leadership conference 2012Undergraduate students, who are pursuing a Baccalaureate Degree and attending a college or university as listed in the current Yearbook & Directory of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), may apply for a Phillips University Legacy Scholarship and Leadership Development Program. Annual awards are intended to support and enrich the educational experience and leadership capabilities of future Christian leaders. Scholarships may be applied to tuition, books, room and board, lab fees, and similar educational expenses incurred within the college/university.

Pearl Morgan Tougaloo College '15“The Phillips University Legacy Foundation generously provided financial aid for my education at TCU. That support enabled me to have incredible personal growth opportunities. My experience with the Legacy Foundation was life-changing and helped me develop the skills I needed to become a leader in my church and community. I am honored and grateful to have been chosen to be a Legacy Scholar.”

Volunteer Service Projects

Because service to others is an important aspect of Christian leadership, the Legacy Foundation seeks to instill in each Scholar a passion for Christian service. Each year, the Scholars choose their own Volunteer Service Projects to fulfill a requirement of the program. Whether it is teaching English to children in the Dominican Republic, providing healthcare in villages in Nicaragua and Costa Rica, training other college students to assist children and their families during their stay in the hospital or planning a 5K to raise money for a worthy philanthropic organization, the Legacy Scholars are truly making a difference in the world around them!

Leadership Development Conference

A highlight of the Legacy Scholars program is the annual Leadership Development Conference. The purpose of each Conference is to provide substantial educational, personal and professional development opportunities that will enhance the growth and development of the scholarships individual, group leadership and life building skills. Scholars, alumni, former Phillips faculty, lay leaders and notable Christian leaders enjoy networking and exchanging ideas about successful leadership experiences. Team building exercises, ropes courses, small group interactions, worship services, panel presentations and reports on volunteer service projects are just a few of the exciting activities included in the program.
