Legacy Scholars Announced for 2017-18

The Phillips University Legacy Foundation Board Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the selection of the 2017-18 Legacy Scholars. They are:


Trystan Deck

Trystan Deck is a sophomore at Texas Christian University. She is majoring in Electrical Engineering and is from Longview, Texas. Trystan's first cousin, Brenna Jennings is a current Legacy Scholar and is also attending TCU.


Samantha Frame

Samantha Sami Frame is a freshman at Chapman University. She is from Cashion, Oklahoma, and plans to major in Religion and Peace Studies. Sami's uncle, Kevin McGuire, attended Phillips University from 1996-1998.


Chester Griffith

Chester Chet Griffith is a senior at Eureka College. He hails from Washington, Illinois, and is majoring in accounting and business.





Mackenzie Hozdic

Mackenzie Hozdic is a freshman at Texas Christian University. She is from Atlanta, Texas, and plans to major in sports broadcasting. Her sister, Lauren Hozdic, is also a current Legacy Scholar.


Isabel Overy

Isabel Overy is a sophomore at Lynchburg College. Isabel is from Williamsburg, Virginia. She is majoring in elmentary education.





Davis Owen

Davis Owen, a freshman at Bethany College, is currently working toward choosing a college major. Davis is from Austin, Texas. Davis' sister, Christa Owen McCord, is a 2008 Legacy Scholar Alumna.


Andrew Shorow

Andrew Paxton Shorow is a freshman at at Texas Christian University. Paxton is from Edmond, Oklahoma, and is majoring in biology and chemistry. His grandfather, Charles Shorow, graduated from Phillips University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion.




Honorary Scholarships Conferred

Special Named Scholarships are awarded in honor or in memory of individuals or groups of people who have given, and in some cases continue to give, their time and financial resources to the mission of Phillips University Legacy Foundation. These outstanding alumni and friends of PULF help ensure that the legacy of Phillips University lives on through the Legacy Scholars program. This year's Honorary Scholarship awardees are:

Madeline is the daughter of Barry Clark,'75; and Jean Ann "Dee Dee" Underwood Clark, '77. The Phillips University family tree also includes her grandfather, the late James Underwood, '52; grandmother, the late Theresa Mosher Clark, '50; uncle, John Underwood, '92; maternal aunts, Mary Beth Underwood Murray, '62-'64; Susan Underwood Kirtley, '64-'66; and the late Nancy Underwood Chapman, '66-'68; maternal cousin-in-law, Ed Crum, '94; and maternal cousin, Jennifer Chapman Crum, '94.
