Envisioned our legacy of Phillips University
July 20, 2010
In Honor and Memory
of Connie Speer Cravens
Connie graduated in 1973 from Phillips University with a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. She married Ed Cravens in 1969. They have two children – Janetta and Matt and a wonderful granddaughter, Madeline.
Connie’s love for Phillips University became evident as she began planning her Alma Mater’s future during its closure. She was a founding member of both the Phillips University Alumni and Friends Association (PUAFA) and the Phillips University Legacy Foundation (PULF). She served in many leadership positions for both PUAFA and PULF – her most recent as Secretary on the Legacy Foundation Board of Directors and as Chairperson on the Undergraduate Scholarship Committee.
She has always been an active member of the Christian Church (DOC) serving in leadership positions both locally and nationally. She served as Chair of Membership and as an Elder at her church in Newcastle, OK. Other past positions included: Chair of the Board, Chair of Fellowship Committee and Outreach Committee, Deacon, Sunday school teacher, JYF youth sponsor, Director of annual financial campaign, Christian Women’s Fellowship President, and church Treasurer. She served for two terms on the Advisory Council for the Division of Higher Education (HELM). She served for 4 years as a Board Member of the United Campus Ministry at OU as well as serving as Chair of the Board for 2 terms. For four years she served as Treasurer for OCUMHE (Oklahoma Commission for United Ministry in Higher Education).
Connie has served as an ever-present example of Christian leadership.
We will miss her greatly.
Information regarding her obituary and service will be posted as it becomes available.
