Bob grew up in Newton, Kansas and graduated from Phillips University as part of the class of 1973 ½ and has been married since 1974 to Beverly Johnson, a 1973 Graduate of PU. After briefly starting graduate studies in geology at the University of Tulsa, he landed instead at Kansas State University, where he later graduated with a master’s in Geological Studies. During his graduate studies, he began to work with an engineering firm in Kansas City and was later hired as a hydrologist by the Kansas Board of Agriculture Later, Bob began working for engineering consulting firms, and he and Beverly moved to Norman, Oklahoma since then, he has but the consultant specializing on multiple geological engineering projects including water and environmental permitting, environmental testing among others. Here's an entrepreneur who has owned multiple companies over the years.  Bob served on the PU Alumni Board from the late 1980s to the end of the last century, the Phillips University Board of Trustees from 1995 until 2005, and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Phillips University Legacy Foundation.

Bob & Beverly have three children: Jonathan (a graduate of William Woods University), Amanda (a Legacy Scholar, graduate of Columbia College, and a current Corporate Member of the Phillips University Legacy Foundation), and Shelley (a graduate of Oklahoma City Community College and mother of Aiden their grandson).
